The project was drawn up by the Associated Architecture Practice “ABDR Architetti Associati”, the winning project of the special international architecture competition promoted by RFI in 2002. Our professionals were part of the technical team who put together the brief. Our responsibility was to ensure the future design of this large urban architectural intervention was fit and proper within both the town planning instrument and satisfied the ecological edicts required by the client. The infrastructure was designed as an international, regional and metropolitan transport interchange node which creates a new link between the two districts, Pietralata and Nomentano. The design was envisaged as a large glazed gallery, 300 metres long, suspended nine metres above the track and divided into 8 modules for services, which were to be available to both travellers and local citizens. The overall investment was in the region of 332 million Euros.
