Cost of Shipping
Advantageous rates of exchange and historically low shipping costs afford an unprecedented opportunity to source exclusive 'Made in Italy' products at the lowest possible prices.
Typically to transport a single 40' HC inter-modal container (internal volume 75 cubic mt, 2,660 cubic ft) from Italy to New York costs approx. €2,000, a figure we believe that is more than compensated in the overall cost per unit saved, and the quality of the product itself.
The average unit cost for transportation of additional containers diminishes with increased volume. *transportation of say 40 x 40' HC inter-modal containers would decrease the cost of each container shipped to approx. €1,700.
In most instances, and indeed to most destinations Customs & Excise duties are nominal. Our shipping providers via their local port brokers ensure whilst providing any quotation or shipping arrangement that the client is informed of any additional costs that may be incurred.
Our preferred roster of shipping companies all provide comprehensive 'All Risk' insurance, which is included in the cost of transit.
Packaging for Transit
The products themselves are packaged very carefully, each item receiving a series of protective layers before transit.
*our kitchen supplier Cesar observes the following packaging protocols when shipping abroad.
Kitchen cabinets and columns
The 4 corners of the cabinet doors and column have a protective plastic corner;
All the edges of the kitchen cabinets and columns are protected by three layers of cardboard;
All the sides of the cabinets and columns are covered with protective cardboard except at the back;
The rear edge of the kitchen cabinets and columns are covered with a protective polyurethane foam;
A protective film is adhered on all sides of both cabinets and columns to prevent scratches;
Each kitchen component is then "sealed" with shrinkable wrap.
Side panels and shelves
All side panels are protected on all sides with a "U" shape honeycomb cardboard;
Both sides are additionally covered with cardboard sheets;
Each item is then "sealed" with shrinkable wrap.
On-site Support
All our manufacturers provide extremely detailed assembly instruction, and if required, can supply on-site coordination to ensure installations are completed without issue. Upon request, our suppliers can partially assemble your goods before shipping, however, it is important to note, this is likely to impact the overall volume and, therefore, the cost of the shipment.
Manufacturing & Green Credentials
Our understanding of the green built environment ensures we can help our clients match any green requirement. Each project is unique, and we are extremely thorough in communicating all the details of any specification to achieve the level of green certification you want to attain.
* listing of minimum green credentials by manufacturer.
cesar
Cesar complies with international environmental regulations and adopts innovative solutions in its production activities to protect the environment and the health of consumers.
Cesar uses ecological Idroleb panels that have a very low emission of formaldehyde as well as wood panels bearing the FSC® mark that guarantees the traceability of the wood used and that it sourced from responsibly managed forests.
Uni EN Iso - Our managerial and production processes have both received the international ISO 9001 certification.
The Idroleb label - The Idroleb ecological panel boasts formaldehyde emissions lower than 0.04 ppm, lower than the currently established limit of 0.1 ppm. It is composed of 100% FSC-certified recycled wood and, by using it, 10,000 trees are saved every day.
FSC® - The Forest Stewardship Council® label indicates that the wood used to manufacture the product comes from forests that are properly managed in compliance with strict environmental, social and economical standards.
milldue
For its production, Milldue uses wood panels certified by the highest European standards for safety and non-toxicity (Class E1 of Law EN120). The company also recently installed a 5,000 m3 solar PV system, which ensures energy independence for internal use and a surplus production of clean energy that enters the national grid, thus helping to reduce the use of fossil fuels and related CO2 emissions into the environment.

Carbon Offset Programme
Ocean going freight has the lowest environmental impact for long distance transportation. Our preferred list of shipping providers utilise routing databases which include information about specific port locations and approaches for many of the world's largest container ports, and these port-specific routing features are part of the distance calculation between various pairs of ports.
Each of our shipping providers has in place a methodology to calculate CO2 emissions over the course of any transit. The equations take into account factors such as vessel size & age, distance travelled and dwell time (the amount of time spent in port where the vessel must use smaller, less-efficient auxiliary power generators, or shore power, in order to continue to operate).
*to transport one 40' HC inter-modal container from Italy to New York generates approx. 1,000kg of C02. The cost of retiring/offsetting that amount of C02 with our partners Carbonfund.org would be only $10.
Though our Carbon Offset programme is entirely elective we enthusiastically endorse it.
Your Carbon, Your Choice™
We know some people prefer renewable energy, while others prefer trees or efficiency. So we figured it’s your carbon, your choice. When you donate, you have the option of selecting your preferred carbon offset type.
Carbonfund.org supports three types of carbon offset projects; each type plays an important role in the fight against climate change. The projects we support are third-party certified to meet the same high standards that thousands of companies, organizations, and governments rely on to ensure quality environmental protection.
